Rani Mukherjee says, though Yash Chopra has passed away, he is always alive in her heart and that she will never want to talk about him in past tense. “I don’t like to talk about Yash uncle in past tense. He is a living legend and will always be there in our hearts and lives,” Rani said.
Meanwhile, Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar awarded the inaugural Yash Chopra Memorial Award. “She (Mangeshkar) is the most deserving recipient of the award. They had an emotional connect,” Rani expressed.
Today 21 October marks exactly one year since the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra passed away.
“It has been a year since Yash uncle passed away, but the young generation will remember him through this award and his films,” said Rani. Her voice was literally choked with emotion.
Apparently, Lata Mangeshkar was adviced completely bed rest as she was down with high temperature. The singer yet made it to the function.
The award has been instituted by a foundation led by industrialist-politician T Subbarami Reddy, and carries a cash prize of 10 lakhs rupees. It will be given to an outstanding film personality each year.
