There was once a saying, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” and now in times of technology and new movies, we can modify that saying and put it as, “Don’t judge a book by the movie”. Yes, that pretty much sums it up.
This trend started in Hollywood. Best-seller books were made into multi-million movie projects. They twisted the plot to get the desired box office result and the trend followed everywhere. Here in India, a very talented, IIT and IIM pass out started to write books. Because it was his passion! And soon, his books were made into movies.
5 point someone was transformed into 3 idiots and that happened without giving out credits to the author but soon everything was sorted. Then 3 mistakes of my life was made into Kai Po Che and again the story was tweaked, leaving the author pissed. By now you’d think that Chetan Bhagat faith in Bollywood would be trampled. But nope! His faith is stronger than ever and Karan Johar’s latest venture is adding to it. The remake of Chetan’s book 2 States is apparently going pretty well and Chetan is happy by the turn of events.
When Asked Karan Johar to comment on the status of the movie, he says, “Well, Abhishek (the director) is honest to Chetan Bhagat’s book; he has not tampered with the content. When we were looking at making it into a film, everyone else tried to do different things to the book. However, Abhishek has been true to the book,” . That’s a relief!
Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor are playing the lead roles and will be seen in supporting roles. The movie is set for a April 2014 release and we honestly cannot wait!
