We recently reported that Naseeruddin Shah and Irrfan Khan are all set to star in the sequel of the 1980s cult comedy movie Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, tentatively titled Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro 2. The actors now have to wait because National Film Development Corporation recently claimed that they hold the rights of this cult comedy and that they haven’t transfered the rights to the filmmakers as yet.
Director Kundan Shah who recently made an announcement about the sequel, approached NFDC (which produced the original movie) for the rights to make a sequel; to be produced by Feroz Nadiadwala. When contacted, Rajesh Das, Head of distribution at NFDC, said the director approached them but the producer has not made any such claims.
Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro was a cult classic, based on the rampant corruption in the country. The movie starred Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Satish Shah, Ravi Biswani among others.
