The Versatile actor Irrfan Khan, who has proved his mettle with various movies has managed to win accolades for his recently released flick, The Lunchbox, recently said that though has has not been offered the lead role in a biopic based on the life of Bhupen Hazarika, he would love to easy the tole of the legendary singer on the big screen.
“I was not offered the role, but if they (the makers) offer it to me, I would love to play it. It’s a very exciting character and I want to do a film on music… and nothing better than (a film on) Bhupen Hazarika’s life,” Irrfan said.
The title of the bio-pic is ‘Dhumuha: The Storm’ and the Pooja Bhatt will be producing the movie. The script of the movie is jointly written by Kalpana Lajmi and Pooja Bhatt’s father Mahesh Bhatt. The movie will be directed by a person who had shared a passionate 40-year ling relationship with Hazarika, Lajmi.
Irrfan went on to say, “Whenever she offers me this role, I would jump on to it. However, the role has not been offered to me yet”. Bupen Hazarika was a poet, music composer, singer, actor, journalist, author and filmmaker. He pioneered Assam’s film industry and has been hailed as the uncrowned king of the northeast’s cultural world. Hazarika died in 2011, aged 85.
