After the super success of Chennai Express, filmmaker Rohit Shetty is all set for his next venture, a Tamil hit remake, starring Imran Khan and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles.
The Hindi remake of the recent crime comedy ‘Soodhu Kavvum’, will go on floors before the end of this year. While Imran Khan is confirmed as the male lead, Shraddha Kapoor is one of the strong contenders for the leading lady’s role.
Buzz is that, while UTV Motion Pictures, Fox Movies and Endemol India tried their best to acquire the film’s rights, it was Rohit Shetty’s production house, Rockline Productions which successfully won the bid by quoting a huge price.
“The necessary formalities took place in Mumbai. Imran Khan will play the lead while Shraddha Kapoor is likely to be paired opposite him,” read a statement from the production house.
“The (Hindi) remake will be jointly produced by Rohit Shetty’s home banner, in association with A&P Groups and Rockline Productions,” added the statement.
The story revolves around four misfit kidnappers.
If sources are to be gone by, a Malayalam of the film is also in the making.
“The project has been pitched to leading actors in Kerala. Since ‘Soodhu Kavvum’ has a universal concept, it is easily applicable to any language. The project will go on the floors soon,” read the statement.
