Despite the bleak forecasts about War Chhod Na Yaar and the fact that it had issues with the censor board, the movie got fair audiences yesterday. While it had only 15-20% occupancy in the morning, it had a fairly decent pick-up by the evening. This is partially because Abhinav Kashyap’s Ranbir Kapoor starrer Besharam was a debacle.
The Sharman Joshi starrer war-comedy has limited time to cash-in on because Akshay Kumar’s Boss releases on Wednesday. The scenario is similar to what Anubhav Sinha’s Warning 3D had with Besharam. Though Warning 3D was also the first-of-its-kind in Indian Cinema (being India’s first underwater thriller) like War Chhod Na Yaar; the former was a debacle and not an entertainer, unlike War….
What remains to be seen is if this movie which is a first of many entities (producer, director, story), will be the first-of-its-kind hit that will start off a new genre in Bollywood.
