It is a common practice for films based on the military, war, etc to have a special screening for the soldiers. It serves as a promotional event and also is of a little entertainment value to the soldiers stationed at the borders. In the past, films like Lakshya, Border, LOC: Kargil did it and now, India’s first war comedy War Chhod Na Yaar was supposed to do it too.
Makers of War Chhod Na Yaar decided to have a special screening for the soldiers at the Wagah-Border. The three lead actors Sharman Joshi, Soha Ali Khan and Javed Jaffrey and the producer and the director were supposed to fly down there and be involved in the screening. Suddenly, they were informed by the Army officials that the screening has been cancelled.
The officials haven’t given any reason for the cancellation but a source from the film says “The border area is at the moment considered very sensitive because of the strained relations with Pakistan. They cannot risk a film crew at Wagah.”
“We were going to screen our movie for our jawaans. We had tied up with TV Today group to take our film to Wagah. Unfortunately they were not able to get the necessary permission,” confirms the producer Prashanth Narayan.
The movie releases on 11th October.
