On the sets of Satya 2, maverick film-maker Ram Gopal Varma talks about his experience in making noir films and more. When asked about the differences between Satya and Satya 2, the director said Satya 2 revolves around a different story line altogether as this movie revolves around the life of a fictional underworld kingpin.
According to the Kaun director, this movie depicts an underworld that can spring up anytime. “Underworld is no longer the same what it was in the period of 1997-2004,” says Varma. He also added that his fascination with the underworld is not there anymore and he wants to move on from making dark themed films to making romance films and exploring other genres.
“I don’t think I’ll make another gangster film after Satya 2. As I said earlier, the underworld effect has reduced. I want to make a martial arts film, it’s tentatively titled Bruce Lee. But it’s not on Bruce Lee per se. I have signed a new girl Pooja Balekar to play the protagonist. She is from Pune. After that, I want to make a love story. And I don’t want to set it up abroad against snowcapped mountains! My movie will be set in the milieu of lovers lost in each other on a dirty Versova beach,” says the director who gave us movies like Darna Mana Hai.
Love stories and martial arts films from Varma? Something to watch out for.
