Many Bollywood filmmakers shift their release date from 2013 to 2014!

The most recent trend in town which is followed by every Bollywood filmmakers is, choosing the release dates for their movies long before the films are completed. However, on a closer inspection, many filmmakers (after the deadline days comes closer) realise that their end-product is not yet fully furnished and needs more nurturing. Hence we see a lot of filmmakers postponing their films release by 3-4 months or so. We will try and cover some of these talked about films which will come out in 2014, instead of 2013.

Imtiaz ALi’s Highway which stars Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda is one of the eagerly awaited movies. Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala and Imtiaz have joined hands with UTV for the worldwide distribution and satellite rights of Highway. Sajid Nadiawala adds, “Since we want a worldwide theatrical and digital release, we have strategically decided to release the movie on February 21, 2014, to give it the prominence it deserves.”

Bhushan Patel’s Ragini MMS 2 which stars the ex-pornstar Sunny Leone is very eagerly awaited. Now it has been confirmed that the wait is said to get longer, Parvin Dabas Tanuj Garg of Balaji, says, “The film’s release has been pushed marginally so that it will be complete in terms of VFX.” We hope that it’s well worth the wait.

Saket Chaudhary’s Shaadi Ke Side Effects which stars Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar will be officially released on valentines day! Pritish Nandy, one of the producers, says, “The film is the first ‘shaadi-com’ as against the ubiquitous rom-com. So we decided that Valentine’s Day was the most apt release date. Farhan first mooted the idea and we agreed promptly.”

Subhash Ghai’s upcoming directorial venture ‘Kaanchi with Kartik’, is rumored to star Mishti and Rishi Kapoor. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai reveals, “Kaanchi will release early next year. I am still shooting. Also, I will need two to three more months to work on the technical aspects of the film. I am getting back to direction after five years, so I don’t want to rush things. I don’t want to be pressurised with the release date, which is why I chose to push it ahead.”

Vikas Bahl’s is gearing up for ‘Queen’ with Kangana Ranaut and Rajkumar Yadav. Director-producer Vikas Bahl says, “Queen has been selected for the screening at the Busan International Film Festival and we are going to have our world premiere there. We have been getting inquiries about the film from other festivals too, which only enables us to get a wider reach. Thus, we thought it wise to push the release of the film.”

Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly too seems to be facing some issues. The mocie which stars Rahul Bhat and Tejaswini Kolhapure has it’s trailers all across the social media sites. Vikas, who is one of the producers of this film, says, “Anurag Kashyap’s presence is crucial for all promotional activities, but since he has been busy with prior commitments — Kashyap is on the jury, along with Martin Scorsese, at a film festival and is expected to attend other film festivals too — we had to postpone the release of the film.”
