Sanjay Leela Bhansali to sue Turkish Black

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to sue the makers of Benim Dunyam, a Turkish film, for plagiarizing his movie Black. Now, if the trailers are anything to go by, the Turkish movie seems like a frame-by-frame copy of Black.

There were speculations that the Turkish film is an official remake of the film but Sanjay Leela Bhansali confirmed that he had no knowledge about the movie until a friend showed him the trailer which resembled his neo-classic Black to the dot.

“The Turkish film is bolt from the blue. No one has approached Mr. Bhansali for the rights. It is an unauthorized illegal remake. Indian filmmakers are constantly accused of lifting from foreign sources. Benim Dunyam seems blatantly plagiarized version of Black,” said a source from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s production team.

Benim Dunyam is scheduled to be released on October 25th, SLB’s team is all set to take legal action against the film-makers and the director Ugur Yucel; who made no attempt whatsoever to acquire the rights of the film. “When Black was released, there were offers from Spain and America for remake rights. But Mr. Bhansali never paid any attention,” adds the source.
