Ranbir Kapoor mights have carried off Besharam’s initial success with his stardom as the movie saw a good opening at the box-office, as much as in excess of 20 crores. However, the choice of selection of film has seen many critics and audience backlash at him as the worst career desicion of his. Many had the opinion that, if taken the right script next, he would have been rated along with the three Khans.
“The manner in which BESHARAM has been panned by one and all has pretty much turned out to be a ‘law of averages’ moment for Ranbir,” reveals a trade source, “Just when Ranbir had won quite some brownie points for his choice of films and commercial sense, case in point being Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Barfi! and Rockstar, a film like Besharam has ended up raising eyebrows all over again.”
Though Ranbir Kapoor left no stone unturned to ensure that he gave complete commitment to the film whole-heartedly from its very inception, many were left wondering as to what the young superstar saw in the script to give to green signal.
“It is not a bad idea to demonstrate an actor’s super-stardom. However, there has to be some semblance of script in the background. You can’t have isolated pieces put together in the name of a film and presented to the audience,” an observer adds.
Luckily though, as an actor Ranbir Kapoor hasn’t seen much of damage in terms of fame and has seen a fairly decent response. Considering the fact that Ranbir is facing a lot of backlash, it would be interesting to see what choices will Ranbir make in the future.
His next couple of projects will see him experimenting with his roles in the films like Roy and Bombay Velvet. However, with Anurag Basu roping in Ranbir for Jagga Jasoos and Imitaz Ali eagerly waiting to start of a film with him and Deepika Padukone, Ranbir has enough cushion to make sure that the heavy-fall (his fame) took for the movie Besharam.
