Actress Huma Qureshi comes from a hospitality background; her father Saleem Qureshi owns a chain of restaurants. Huma is a culinarian but her culinary skills are limited to emergency cooking.
The 27-year-old woman who made debut in the crime thriller Gangs Of Wasseypur sayd she loves to eat and has fondness for cooking, but says her cooking is more for survival.
“I do like to cook, but I do more like survival cooking. Like today, when I visited home my nieces came over and they are about 10, 6 and 4. They wanted to eat something sweet. I told them that I would make them something very exotic. I cut pineapple into pieces and dipped them in melted chocolate and Milkmade and they thought I was Masterchef. I am a ‘dhoka’ cook,” Huma told IANS.
Her mother is a great cook and she says her family believes in hospitality and they love to feed people and see smile on their face when they eat good food.
“An interesting mix of Mughlai and Kashmiri cuisines is prepared at my home. My dad is in the hospitality industry. My mother is also a fantastic cook. People used to always come to my place to eat Mughlai food,” said Huma, who will be next seen in Abhishek Chaubey’s Dedh Ishqiya in January 2014.
“I am doing a film called ‘Dhed Ishqiya’. It is scheduled to release in January… Madhuri is lovely. She is a wonderful co-star. I’ve always admired her. She is a very graceful woman. Both on and off screen. She is grounded and real and that makes her even more gorgeous,” said Huma.
“If there is one thing I want to learn from her, it will be her dancing… and the way she smiles. If I can ever smile like that, I will be very happy,” she added.
