Apparently, Ileana’s father worked as a draftsman at Mazagaon Docks and is a Catholic. Her mum was a Muslim, it becomes quite obvious now that they had to go through a lot in order to get married. Ileana was born in Mumbai and had shifted to Goa when she was the age of 10. She idolized her mother as a rock-star. She was born in a conservative Muslim family, where the girls were not educated much and she was required to wear a burkha. She always dreamt of walking around wearing jeans and sunglasses and also driving he own car. She even considered converting to Christianity which she did later. She further added ‘I remember tagging along with her for her classes, sitting on the back seat alongside her, with my sister, while she attended classes. I came to know after I became an actress that she had dreamt of becoming one herself. Once teary- eyed she told me, ‘You have made my dream come true. It is so amazing seeing my own girl become an actress.’
Is she Arrogant, or what?
She says; she can be arrogant and nasty and can be a true-blue scorpion at the same time. She also revealed that she had always lacked confidence. She talks about this incident where she had participated in a modelling competition at the age of 17, she was terribly nervous. Mehr Jessia was one of the judges there and she was shaking like a leaf, and in the swimsuit round she slipped. Mehr gave her a lovely compliment she said, ‘You have lovely eyes darling.’ She is still learning how to speak in Hindi and this is the reason why she makes terrible grammatical mistakes. She tried her level best to not make a fool of herself infront of Mr Bachchan. But Mr Bachchan told something that blew her over! Apparently he said, ‘I became your fan after seeing Barfi.’ She was speechless for the very first time in her life, She felt frozen not knowing what to reply back to the legend!
I didn’t want to make a fool of myself in front of Mr Bachchan. But Mr Bachchan told me something that blew me over. It was the first time I was meeting him and he said, ‘I became your fan after seeing Barfi.’ I was speechless and for the firstime, I felt frozen not knowing what to say.
