Today’s the Birthday of the legendary film maker Yash Chopra. Though the legendary scriptwriter, producer is no more amongst us, he has left behind some of the most brilliant movies as memories that we can hold on to forever. The kinds of love stories that he got into Bollywood and the success which followed it made him a sort of magician. The dedication with which he gives importance to the characters, locations and every little thing which is required to make a movie was just wonderful. He has shown us heroes and heroines from elegant to stylish ways, but it is more pleasing to see the lead pair’s chemistry in the movie. A brand on his own – Yash Chopra, has given us many lovely pairs with his movies. Be it under his direction or production house, the couples staring in his movies will definitely be in the list of best jodis either in award ceremonies or at least in audience mind. The jodis which he creates garners so much love that the other directors cash in on that very jodi by signing them to do their next films. The first such couple which comes to our mind is that of Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Dhoom 2. Yash Chopra could even turn a fail couple into a popular one with his movies, and an example for this is that of Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. Though Baazigar and Karan Arjun gave them fame, It was Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayene that made the couple the most romantic par. Kabhie Kabhie: Amitabh-Raakhee, Rishi-Neetu

Kabhie Kabhie was produced as well as directed by Yash Chopra. The movie features Amitabh Bacnchan, Raakhe, Shashi Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. The Amitabh-Rakhee duo became a massive hit and Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh jodi too were not far behind. It is a well known fact that Rishi and Neetu fell in love while shooting this film, followed by tying the knot in January 1980, after a much publicized engagement that was the talk of B-Town then.

Silsila: Jaya-Amitabh-Rekha Silsila

This movie is one of the most classic love triangles of all time, the movie was directed and produced by Yash Chopra. The film had Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Rekha and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. Shashi Kapoor made a special appearance in the movie. This flick was loosely inspired by the alleged real life love triangle of Amitabh-Jaya-Rekha. This was the last film in which Rekha and Amitabh were seen together onscreen.

Chandini: Rishi-Sridevi

Yash Chopra was the director and producer of Chandini, the movie starred Sridevi, Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna. More than Vinod-Sridevi, it was Rishi-Sridevi’s pair hich was applauded by the audience. The movie captured Sridevi’s style beautifully which created a huge trend during those days-remember white dress and sari! The film also gave a jump start to all the three actors careers.

Lamhe: Anil-Sridevi

The film directed and produced by Yash Chopra, starred Sridevi and Anil Kapoor. The Mr India Jodi bought in their magic in to this movie too. Lamhe has been cited as Yash Chopra’s personal favorite of all time.

Dil To Pagal Hai: Madhuri-SRK-Karishma

This film directed and produced by Yash Chopra, the movie starred Madhuri Dixit, Shahrukh Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Akshay Kumar. This was another all time best love triangle by Yash Chopra. The chemistry between SRK and Madhuri was loved by the audience blindly. Not only this, their names in the movie Pooja-Rahul-Nisha got quite famous too. A small guest appearance by the pair Karishma Kapoor and Akshay Kumar, at the end of the film gave it a nice finishing touch!

Veer-Zaara: Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta

The film was directed by Yash Chopra and produced by himself and his son Aditya Chopra. The film starred Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerjhee, Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini. The love story of Shahrukh and Preity was so simple yet so touching, it had an immense message – to strengthen the bond of love between India and Pakistan. SRK and Preity won Star Screen Awards for Jodi no. 1. The film marked Yash Chopra’s return as a director after seven years post Dil To Pagal Hai, which also had Shahrukh Khan in the movie. As of 2007, out of the five films SRK and Preity have done together, this is the only movie where in, their characters get back together as a couple by the end of the film.

Darr: SRK-Juhi

The film directed and produced by Yash Chopra, starred Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Sunny Deol. Shahrukh this time took up the bad guy role in this flick, who was madly in love with Juhi, who in turn will be in love with Sunny. Although SRK and Juhi did Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, audience liked unique subject of the movie and were loved the most. They went on to make many more movies along with each other.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan: Katrina-SRK-Anushka

Jab Tak Hai Jaan was Yash Chopra’s last directorial venture. JTHJ was produced by Aditya Chopra and starred Shahrukh Khan, katrina Kaid and Anushka Sharma. The chemistry between Shahrukh and Anushka was simply brilliant and they received accolades for their respective performance. This jodi were also seen together in Yash’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. With this movie, Chopra introduced another pair, that of Shahrukh and Katrina. Though the pair didn’t do that well, it was loved by a few. There were heavy rumors of this pair getting back together for Happy New Year.
