Veena Malik and Ashmit Patel, whose extreme reality PDA (Public Display of Affection) on Bigg Boss 4 made the Indian television viewers squirm, are paired with each other in the movie Supermodel, scheduled to be released this Friday (27th September). What we think is this Supermodel, directed by Navin Batra, is a version (probably crude) of the hit film Fashion by Madhur Bhandarkar. That apart, Veena and Ashmit who were a couple sometime ago, will probably sizzle the screen.
For those who don’t know (like me till recent times), Veena Malik and Ashmit Patel were first seen together on screen on the fourth season of the reality show Bigg Boss. On the show, those two added a whole new dimension to the term PDA. The show itself has that voyeuristic feeling to it and these two enhanced that feeling by their unable-to-keep-hands-off-each-other behavior. They were like a couple of pubescent teenagers experiencing physical contact for the first time. Veena (who is from Pakistan) came under fire from Islamic clerics for her behavior on the show but she returned the fire with her powerful statements.
After the show, it seemed as if they will be one of those star-crossed-lovers in a cross-border love story. They actually seemed like the two doves meeting on no-man’s land. Apparently Veena met Ashmit’s family and bonded with them. When asked by the media whether they’re gonna marry, they said it’s too early in their lives to think about wedding. They made each other happy, threw parties for each other. All was well and then came the twist in the tale. They split up.
After breaking up, Veena Malik and Ashmit lashed out openly about each other whenever they were asked about each other. Once she actually said “Who’s Ashmit?”. He said “she likes to grab headlines”. After the shooting of the movie, Veena said doing intimate scenes with Ashmit was a traumatic experience for her. Well we can only wonder if it was really traumatic after the trauma those two put the audiences in during their stint at Bigg Boss. Nevertheless according to media reports, they sizzled on screen and shared excellent chemistry together.
Ashmit Patel who plays a hot-shot photographer in the movie, said he recommended her for the role because of the chemistry they shared previously. Well we’ll have to wait till 27th and see who the movie is/was traumatic for.
