Riteish Deshmukh’s Funniest Movies

Riteish Deshmukh’s name is synonymous with comedy movies in Bollywood. Housefull, Kya Kool Hai Hum, Do Knot DisturbĀ are some of his rib-tickling comedies. The actor who has won the IIFA award for the best comedian 4 times so far starred in a movie Grand Masti which is supposed to be released on 13th September. Grand Masti, an adult comedy is a sequel to another adult comedy Masti starring Deshmukh. Here is a list of some of Riteish Deshmukh’s funniest movies.

Masti

Masti is a 2004 adult comedy starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani. It follows the story of three friends who meet each other again after settling down in their lives. They realize they are not happy with their respective marriages and they decide to spend some time the way they did when they were bachelors; setting sights on other women. Their lives turn upside down when they realize all of them are seeing the same woman who in turn blackmails them. A roller coaster ride filled with laughter follows. Riteish won the Star Screen and Zee Cine awards for best Newcomer and best comedian as well as the best actor in a comic role in the IIFA awards.

Bluffmaster!

Riteish Deshmukh plays the role of Dittu, an amateur conman in this 2005 romance comedy starring Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Nana Patekar and Boman Irani. Dittu seeks the help of another pro conman Roy (Bachchan) to extract revenge against another conman Chandru (Patekar) who had conned his father of all his wealth. Deshmukh won the IIFA award for best comedian for his performance in this movie.

Heyy Babyy

In this 2007 remake of the Hollywood movie Three Men and a Baby, Riteish Deshmukh plays one of the three single men who live a hedonistic life. Their lives turn topsy turvy when they find a baby girl outside their door with a note saying “take care of your daughter”. Not knowing whose daughter it is, they set out to find the mother and laughter riot ensues. This movie starring Deshmukh along with Akshay Kumar and Fardeen Khan is the seventh highest grossing movie of bollywood in 2007.

Dhamaal

This movie starring Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey, Ashish Chaudhary and Sanjay Dutt is the story of 4 friends who stumble upon a dying under-world don who tells them the location of a hidden treasure of 10 crore rupees. The friends’ quest for the money sends the audience into fits of laughter. Riteish Deshmukh won the IIFA award for the best comedian for his role in the movie’s sequel Double Dhamaal.

Housefull

In this 2010 movie, Aarush (played by Akshay Kumar), a jinxed loser who stays with his friend, Bob (Ritesh Deshmukh) and his wife, Hetal (Lara Dutta), both working at a casino owned by Mr.Kishore Samtani (Randhir Kapoor). Hetal lies to her father about their professions and financial status. Bob falls in love with Sandy (Deepika Padukone) who has an over-protective elder brother. Laughter ensues as the lead characters try their best to cover up their lies. Deshmukh won the IIFA award for the best comedian for his role as Bob.
