The Khan trio- Salman, Aamir and Shahrukh have been the Khans of Hindi cinema ever since they entered the industry. No Kumar or Khanna or Kapoor has beaten the Trio so far. Ranbir Kapoor seems to have gotten past the barrier with the recent hit Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. Now the million dollar question is, does he have what it takes to beat all of them and emerge as the King of Bollywood?
Rumours suggest Ranbir Kapoor has been putting a lot of effort and has high hopes in Abhinav Singh Kashyap’s next film Besharam. Going by the previous hits by the director like Dabangg and Ranbir Kapoor’s hits, this movie is bound to be a crowd-puller. The actor is busy filming Anurag Kashyap’s next movie Bombay Velvet so he can involve himself extensively in the promotion of Besharam which is slated to be released on October 2nd.
Sources say Ranbir firmly believes that Besharam can set new box office records; putting him on par with the Khans.
“Ranbir’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has beaten Dabangg 2 and Bodyguard in terms of box office collections. It is a clear indication that he has reached the league of the Khans. There is a general belief in the industry that if anyone can challenge the superiority of the Khans in the industry, it is Ranbir,” says a source.
As of now (as per the box office figures) Shahrukh Khan is at the top with his Chennai Express (Rs. 224 crore), followed by Aamir Khan at the second spot with 3 Idiots (Rs. 202 crore) and Salman Khan at the third with Ek Tha Tiger (Rs. 198 crore) and Ranbir Kapoor is close with his Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (Rs. 188 crore).
