Deepika Padukone, the actress who has tasted back-to-back sweet success, is already ready for her next flick. Happy New Year, featuring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead, will see the latter play the role of a bar dancer. Apparently, the Farah Khan flick will see Deepy in a whole new avatar. But a versatile actress that she is, e are sure Deepika can carry off any role with much ease.
A source close to the film reveals that, the actress, post Dubai schedule, will next shoot in Goa. Also, it is heard that the film is set in an era where bar dancers were banned.
“Deepika will play the role of an out-of-work bar dancer from Maharashtra. And her role will have significance in the lives of all the five leading men,” said the source.
Director Farah Khan also revealed that Deepika will essay the role of a marati mulgi, who is an excellent dancer.
The source further added, “They’re shooting for a song called ‘Indiawaale’ in Dubai which is basically a song that represents the country. Since the actors are participating in a dance competition with contestants from various other countries, this song will be a cheer-leader anthem for the nation. All the men will be portrayed as atrocious dancers and Deepika will help them win the dance trophy.”
Happy New Year which also stars Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles is set for a 2014 release.
