Anil Kapoor roped in for a movie based on Indo-Pak partition

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has teamed up with director Rajkumar Santoshi for a new project which will be based on the 1947 partition.

The actor and director have previously worked together for hits like Pukar and Lajja. This will be their third project as a team and will be based on the Indo-Pak partition drama and Anil Kapoor has bagged the role of the male lead.

“I am doing a film based on 1947 partition. It is a very dramatic film. I am working on it. It is too early to talk about the actors that I have on my wish list for this film except Anil Kapoor. He is playing a powerful character,” Rajkumar Santoshi said.
Santoshi, however, did not elaborate on Kapoor’s character.

The film is reportedly an adaptation of the play, Jis Lahore Nahi Dekhya Woh Jamiya Hi Nahin.

The film will have a universal message – promoting harmony in times of intolerance,” said Santoshi without disclosing further details.

Meanwhile, Santoshi is looking forward to the release of his directional venture, Shahid Kapoor-starrerPhata Poster Nikhla Hero, which will hit the theatres on September 20.
