Prakash Jha’s much-awaited directorial venture Satyagraha which was made on a budget Rs. 50 crores has already recovered its production cost in the first weekend itself. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Arjun Rampal, Kareena Kapoor and Manoj Bajpayee and has topped the domestic charts with a good amount of collection at the Box Office. The film also successfully smashed the records of Prakash Jha’s previous movie Raajneeti.
The movie released in about 2,500 screens in the country on August 30 and has opened to a fantastic response at the single screens. While they were mixed reviews for the film, the audience loved it as it was pretty engaging. The positive word of mouth seems to have done wonders for the film as it showed great improvements on Saturday and Sunday.
The movie collected a total of about Rs 39.12 crores at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend it self. It’s break up being Rs 11.21 crores on Friday, Rs 13.08 crores on Saturday and Rs 14.83 crores on Sunday. Prakash Jha’s previous hit Raajneeti collected Rs 34 crores at the domestic collection centres in it’s opening weekend. But now good for the director that Satyagraha has shattered his previous record. Trade experts suggest that the film Satyagraha will also be doing amazing business on the weekdays and surpass Rs 50 crores at the box office. We say much more than that!
