It’s raining sequels and remakes in Bollywood, this 2013!

2013 can be hailed as the year of sequels and remakes in Bollywood as evidently, we were subjected to a string of movies which had their first installment tale told before. Generally, this is just a product of all the production houses trying to capitalize on the popularity of their hit film franchises by releasing their next installments.

The year began with Race 2 and Murder 3 and has seen many other sequels trying to use the momentum it’s prequels earned. Aashiqui 2 came out and turned out to be a huge hit, acting like a springboard to Aditya Roy Kapur and Shradhha Kapoor’s film careers while Race 2 has proved to be the first Rs 100 crore film of Deepika Padukone, who’s had 3 films crossing Rs 100 crores already so far.

The year is surely set for a big end as huge movie franchises like Krrish 3 and Dhoom 3 will be releasing in November and December respectively, while on the other side, remakes which have been an on-going trend in Bollywood lately will continue to be made as Chashme Baddoor and Zanjeer lined up soon.

So if we analyze, in 2013, six sequels have released and out of these 6, three sequels have been successful at the box office while the other three took a beating. Now we’re still left with 5 sequels which are yet to release this year, namely – ‘Grand Masti’, ‘Ragini MMS 2’, ‘Krrish 3’, ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’ and ‘Dhoom 3’. Now of course, there are minimal chances of all five of them becoming a super hit but we guess atleast a couple of them are surely going to do wonders at the box office.
