Bollywood celebrities on the Mumbai gang rape

The recent gang rape of a 23 year old journalist photographer has created a havoc in the country. Our celebs in Bollywood in their usual way have taken to twitter to vent their angry, shock, sympathy, displeasure and various such emotions instead of actually putting themselves out there and volunteering to make a change. Here’s what they had to say :

Sonam Kapoor: I’m really shocked & taken aback with the recent shameful incident that took place in Mumbai yesterday. A sheer act of cowardice.

Nargis Fakhri: I know it’s my big day 2 day but I’m disgusted at the news reports of another gang rape here in Mumbai. This is becoming a sickness! Wtf!

Neha Dhupia: These bastards are creeping and crawling into every nook and corner. Get rid of these rapists by punishing them in the harshest way possible…We women should wear Wtf we want and go wherever the f**k we want to without being scared or worried about a bunch of skin starved scoundrels!

Farhan Akhtar: There has to be harsher punishment for rape & a fixed time limit within which cases must reach a verdict in court. Wake up system!!

Bipasha Basu: More shock and more remorse! What about more justice and justice which would scare and stop these filthy animals who live in human skin! Lets just accept it!We are not safe!

Akshay Kumar: It seems like Déjà vu…honestly how many more such cases before we do something? These are animals disguised as men…

Lara Dutta: Since we’re becoming more&more depraved and barbaric as a society, why don’t we follow thru with all barbaric customs, hang rapists in public! An activist has to die for a law to be passed! How many more women need to b raped in order for swifter and apt punishment to be meted out??

Alia Bhatt: Can’t even say that am shocked anymore!! who says girls should be sensible and careful at night ? It has nothing to do with where or when..It’s the uneducated, misinformed section of our society who have skewed ideas of masculinity. And it’s a very large section.Punishment is the only way to tame the wild. They may not understand words but they will surely understand action.

Kunal Kohli: #MumbaiGangRape while we express our anger, shock & disgust let us remember that #nirbhaya’s rapists havent been sentenced as yet

Preity Zinta: Nothing feels more DISGUISTING than reading of ANOTHER RAPE in the newspapers. Hope the lawmakers realise that they have failed this Country

Madhur Bhandarkar: Stunned and saddened to hear about the horrific gangrape in our city. This is NOT the Mumbai we know it to be. A moment of absolute shame.

Celina Jaitly: Devastated to hear of gangrape of our dear journalist in Mumbai, severe action has to be taken to make rape punishment extreme to instil fear.

Karan Johar: Helpless to say the least … words like “devastated” … “disgusted” mean nothing at a time like this! Gangrape in my city, I feel ashamed.

Genelia D’Souza: Angered and disgusted that no matter what, this brutality keeps growing.. need a stop NOW..severe punishments required..

Pooja Bhatt: Mortified to hear about the gangrape in Mumbai which occurred in broad daylight. This is not the city I grew up in. Ashamed!

Anupam Kher: There is no fear of law. Rape cases go on for years. Nobody is hanged for Rape. Politicians are interested in power not welfare of people.

Shobhaa De: Yeh mera India. Yeh meri Mumbai. (This is my India and this is my Mumbai). Another gang rape. One more victim. Just another day in our great nation.

Manoj Bajpayee: Mumbai is shamed by the incident of gangrape last night. We all hang our head in shame that we can not give a safe world to women.

Gul Panag: Sad validation of the fact that no city in India is safe for women. It is after all the same prevention, enforcement mechanism in use all over.

Shreya Ghoshal: Disgusted disgusted disgusted. A gangrape in daylight in our so called ‘safe’ city Mumbai.
