Salman Khan celebrates his Silver Jubilee in Bollywood

Love him or hate him, but you can’t ignore him. Salman Khan, the king of the 100 crore club, celebrates his 25th glorious year in Bollywood, today.

His first film, a family drama, titled Biwi Ho Toh Aisi, which released on August 22, 1988, starred Rekha and Farooq Shaikh, saw Salman play the role of Mr Shaikh’s younger brother. The film was big time a box office dud.

It was after one whole year of struggle, in 1989 when he tasted sweet success with Sooraj Barjatya’s Maine Pyar Kiya, co-starring Bollywood actress Bhagyashree. The film was a blockbuster hit and there after there was no turning back for Khan.

In the past 25 years, Salman has faced it all, from duds like Sanam Bewafa, Love and Veer, to critical successes like Saajan, Khamoshi, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Tere Naam; and superhits like Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Biwi No. 1, Partner and his recent run of five back-to-back blockbusters – Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2.

His effortless sense of style is only a bonus to his good looks. Everyone, from youngsters to middle aged, to even older men, envy his fashion sense. He showed off his style credentials with the way he wore his iconic sunglasses in Dabangg.

He is considered as one of the most eligible bachelors in Bollywood, thanks to his drool worthy looks and that oh-so-hot bod. The superstar has been involved in quite a few flings as well, most popular ones being with Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif.

A bike freak that he is, every Salman flick ought to have at least one scene with him romancing the prized possession.

The two-and-a-half decades was not an easy journey. Salman Khan did face n number of legal cases. The famous hit-and-run case dating from 2002, Khan is still doing rounds at the court. He is also charged with illegally hunting the endangered chinkara and blackbuck deer.
