Salman Khan has completed 25 years in Bollywood. Wow! Doesn’t seem long ago when I was mesmerized after watching Hum Aapke Hai Kaun..!! People in their mid twenties and early thirties can proudly say that they practically grew up watching his movies, idolizing him.
They were with him from Maine Pyaar Kiya to Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya. They supported him when Aishwarya broke his heart. They supported him when he went on a drunk driving spree. They cheered him when he succeed and they displayed extreme hatred towards Shahrukh Khan and his fans post his break up with Shahrukh Khan. It was after all Baazigar vs Dabangg and Dabangg had to win, right? But now, keeping aside everything, lets take a look at his career and lets dwell on the less known or rather the unknown facts about Salman Khan
things we did not know about the Dabangg star, Salman Khan
Where do we start? Lets start with his name. His real or rather full name is Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan.
Before he ventured into acting, Salman Khan like every other aspiring actor first tried his hand at modelling. He modeled for brands like Hero Honda and Double Bull shirts.
Acting does come naturally to him but he did study it at the initial stages of his career. He along with Sajid Khan and Chunkey Pandey went to Daisy Irani’s acting institute.
He had a plan B if his career in acting wouldn’t take off. He would become a swimmer! And boy, he would be one hot swimmer. He was the swimming champion in his school and represented India at many international events.
He made his debut in Bollywood as an side actor. His first movie was Biwi Ho Toh Aisi in 1988. Though the movie failed to impress the audience, the girls went gaga over Salman. He made his debut as a lead actor one year later in Maine Pyaar Kiya in 1989 after which there was no looking back for him.
After he had achieved success as an actor, he wanted to try his hand at something else. He wanted to write. He had given the idea to the story of Baaghi: A rebel for Love for which he was later given credit. The other movies whic Salman wrote were Veer and Chandramukhi. Unfortunately for him, all the three films failed at the Box Office miserably.
He made his debut as a play back singer in his film, Hello Brother
Salman’s big heart, kindness and down to earth nature is common knowledge. He launched seven heroines in Bollywood. Bhagyashree in Maine Pyar Kiya, Nagma in Baaghi: A Rebel For Love, Chandni in Sanam Bewafa, Bhumika Chawla in Tere Naam, Sneha Ullal in Lucky: No Time For Love, Zarine Khan in Veer, Sonakshi Sinha in Dabangg.
When Aamir Khan and Salman Khan agreed to act in Andaz Apna Apna both the actors had a little tiff. They wanted more screen time than the other! Eventually it was settled that both would get equal time.
Karan Arjun was the first movie where best friends, Shahrukh and Salman shared screen space.
Here’s something that will bowl you over. He is the only actor in Bollywood to have had five back to back 100 Crore plus films. Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2. Bhai wah! Fan following ho to aisi!
One very upsetting and depressing trivia, Salman suffers from trigeminal neuralgia, a facial nerve disorder commonly known as the suicide disease.
