Amitabh Bachchan starrer Satyagraha is just 10 days away from it’s release and it certainly has been a much-awaited flick of the year. It also stars Arjun Rampal, Kareena Kapoor and Ajay Devgn while director Prakash Jha reveals that the socio-political drama is basically a sequel to Rajneeti and is just second in the trilogy.
A source said: “This was always on the anvil but making an early revelation would have diverted the focus from what Satyagrahaactually intends to tell. The very mention of Raajneeti would have taken the entire course of marketing and promotion in an altogether different direction and it was felt by all that this was best avoided. Why to piggyback on the trilogy factor when you have so much to tell as a standalone film?”
Prakash Jha, who was tight lipped all this while about the film being a part of the Raajneeti trilogy said: “In both the films, the intricacies of relationships form the key aspect of the plot that is set against the backdrop of politics and corruption. My immediate next will be the third installment of my Raajneeti trilogy and will explore the similar theme.”
Raajneeti, a political thriller which was released in 1010, was a huge success at the box office and featured Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpai, Arjun Rampal and Nana Patekar in lead roles. Everybody must have noticed a few common features between the two movies other than the star cast of Ajay Devgn, Arjun Rampal and Manoj Bajpayee starring in both. Anjum Rajabali, writer of Satyagraha also penned down Raajneeti while Prakash Jha and UTV Motion Pictures will collaborate again as the makers.
