Irrfan, who will be seen next in The Lunchbox, has planned to spend some quality time with the much-loved dabbawalas of Mumbai in an attempt to promote his film. The movie releases on September 20 and is a story about a widower and a lonenly housewife who develop a bond by exchanging letters hidden in lunchboxes.
“Mumbai’s dabbawalas are a prominent part of the movie as they are the ones responsible for delivering the dabbas and, in turn, the letters,” says an insider, adding, “This is why Irrfan is keen on exploring a special engagement with them.”
The insider also says that Irrfan plans to speak to the Mumbai Dabbawalas Association to have special handwritten notes hidden inside the lunchboxes and being transported across the city. He wants to audience to connect through these notes like himself in the movie.
“He will sign the notes himself, which will have the film’s name and release date etched at the bottom,” says the source. The Lunchbox also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Nimrat Kaur. And it was also premiered at this years Cannes Film Festival.
