After spending so many years in the Bollywood industry, Salman Khan will now be seen acting in a Marathi film for the first time. Helmed by National Award-winning director Nishikant Kamat, the film will feature Riteish Deshmukh making his debut as an actor in the regional industry.
The movie is titled Lai Bhaari, the movie is slated for a December release this year. Confirming this Kamat said, ““Salman was gracious enough to show his interest in the project. He has already shot three days with us in Hyderabad. Lets term it as a ‘special appearance.'” According to sources, Salman will be seen as a typical Maharashtrian. The actor arrived on a short notice and so the make-up artists had to do their magic quickly so that the star can land up on sets.
The Marathi film industry seems to be on a high now with Sanjay Jadhav’s Duniyadari holding tight against Shahrukh’s massive Chennai Express. This newly found interest in the Marathi film industry has become quite evident. “Quality of content is the key. Social networking sites have helped a lot in creating a buzz around Marathi films. However, even I am surprised at the sudden surge of interest for regional films which have got cash boxes ringing at the boxoffice.”
