Chennai Express, after setting new records for the Thursday paid previews opening (Rs 6.75 crores), has continued it’s rage at the box office.
Call it a Shahrukh Khan factor or the large amount of audience that loves the Rohit Shetty entertainment ishtyle. Chennai Express has broken yet another record. It has crossed the 100 crore mark within just four days time! That’s crazy!
The Rohit Shetty flick released on Thursday on Eid and cashed in on the extended weekend. Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone were very much successful in luring the audience to the theatres with their extreme promotional activities. The movie kickstarted on Thursday with an earning of Rs 6.75 crores with 3500 screens hitting the theatres across the country. It escalated to Rs 33.12 crores and Rs 28.05 crores on Friday and Saturday respectively.
But Sunday was the day when the movie set a new record as it garnered Rs 32.5 crores and crossed the 100 crore mark. A total of Rs 100.42 crore and the movie was made with a budget of around Rs 70crores.
No wonder, Shahrukh Khan can’t stop smiling!
