One of Bollywood’s hottest actress Nargis Fakhri who was brought up in New York is trying really hard to adapt to Hindi. The actress was born to a Pakistani father and a Czech mother and is quite weak when it comes to our matra bhasha!
The actress has been taking Hindi lessons for a year now and is still struggling to adjust in Bollywood due to her Hindi diction. Nargis admits she should’ve learnt Urdu during her childhood days itself. “I’m still learning everyday, and I’m learning to adapt and adjust. I work as much as I can. I have learnt to read and write, I try to watch films without subtitles so that I can understand Hindi better. I wish I would have learnt Urdu when I was a child,” said Nargis.
She made her debut in Bollywood with Rockstar but was not given the opportunity to give her own voice for the film. And in he upcoming film, Madras Cafe, she will be portraying the role of an European journalist which means (fortunately or unfortunately, you decide) we won’t be getting to hear the lady speak Hindi yet.
But she looks forward to speaking in Hindi for her films and wants to do movies that she would love to watch as a spectator. “I started taking Hindi classes one year ago. I understand at least 80 percent. I’m trying really hard, but I don’t understand many jokes. But I’m happy now people cannot talk about me in Hindi, because I understand that,” Nargis explained
She further added saying she’s been having a very busy and hectic schedule, “I was busy reading scripts, dance classes, Hindi classes, travelling to see my family, moving my stuff from New York to Mumbai and adjusting,”
