The more popular an actor is, the more pricey he gets. Back in the 80’s and early 90’s, our Bollywood stars, no matter how popular he/she was, didn’t mind working together. Nevertheless, our filmmakers somehow manage to bring back the 80’s-90’s trend. Here’s a look at some of Bollywood multi-starrer movies in recent times.
The political film starred Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal and Manoj Bajpai in pivotal roles. Raajneeti talked about dirty politics within the family. It was a big hit among the audiences and the whole star cast were given their due credit for the film’s success.
Starring Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Jiah Khan, Lara Dutta, Ritesh Deshmukh and Boman Irani, Housefull was a no brainer comedy flick, which was so successful that the director of the film Sajid Khan came out with the film’s sequel the following year.
An out-and-out entertainer flick, Golmaal 3 starred Mithun Chakraborty, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Khemu. The film collected a sum of Rs 8 crores in its opening weekend, which itself explains the reason for its huge success. Golmaal 3 was the third sequel to the film Golmaal.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham
This is one KJO flick to be remembered forever, thanks to the awesome casting coup – Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor. It will be the rarest of rare cases, in fact impossible to replicate this star cast ever again; reason: SRK-Amitabh and Hrithik-Kareena cold war.
Starring Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Aishwariya Rai, Uday Chopra and Bipasha Basu, Dhoom 2 gives you all the reasons why a multi-starrer can work wonders. Each of the actors were spaced out exceptionally well, all having important roles to essay. Hence there was no worry whatsoever as to who will overshadow whom. Now we know why Dhoom franchise is a hit.
