After the success of “Shootout at Wadala”, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta is geared up for his next project “Mumbai Saga”, which, he says, is his “most ambitious” movie as yet.
‘Mumbai Saga’ is the title of my new film. The star cast is mostly the same as ‘Shootout at Wadala’ and some more people will be added. It’s still being written so it’s too early to talk about,” Gupta said here Monday at the press conference held for South Africa India Film and Television Awards (SAIFTA).
Set in the 1980s and 1990s, the crime saga will be a complete package of action, drama, politics, police and betrayal.
“It’s more of a epic crime saga, epic crime drama based on real events again which happened in Mumbai in 80s and 90s,” he said.
Gupta is known for films like “Kaante” (2002) and “Shootout at Lokhandwala.”
His third film, “Shootout at Wadala”, was also based on the real life story of gangster Manya Surve played by John Abraham.
