The 14th year of the Tata Motors IIFA Awards surpassed expectations with a spectacular show that saw Barfi!, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, bag the top Awards of the night including Best Actor (Male), Best Film & Best Director, among others.
Hosts for the night, Shahrukh Khan & Shahid Kapoor kept the audience enthralled with their wit and humour and interacted with the stars creating a fun-filled night for all, including Boman Irani, Ayushmaan Khurrana, Sushant Singh Rajput, Vidya Balan and Parineeti Chopra and more.
Vidya Balan who won the Award for Best Actress for her acclaimed role in Kahaani, exclaimed, “Thank you IIFA. My journey started with IIFA in Amsterdam, so I have a special place for IIFA in my heart.”
Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfi!’ was a big winner for the evening, taking home 14 awards. Basu proudly said, “I think someday we will look back and say these were the golden years of Indian Cinema”
Actor Anupam Kher won the Award for Outstanding Contribution by an Indian to International Cinema post laudable performances in Silver Linings Playbook and Midnights Children saying, “For a boy who went to a Hindi-medium school in a small town, this is a big award. Indian cinema has been very kind to me and I’m thankful to the Indian Film Industry which allowed me to dream big.”
The most scintillating was the performance by Madhuri Dixit. The actress danced to signature numbers like “Dola re dola”, “Mera Piya Ghar Aaya”, “Ek do teen” and her latest chartbuster “Ghagra”, among others.
Another highlight of the evening was Sridevi’s performance with none other than Prabhu Deva. This was Sridevi’s first performance in 20 years
Deepika Padukone, Parineeti Chopra, Dia Mirza, Gauhar Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Sophie Choudry also took the stage with wire.
