When we first heard that Jacqueline Fernandez has bagged the role opposite Salman Khan in Sajid Nadiadwala’s remake of 2009 Telugu hit, Kick, little did we know the politics behind it. While we knew that Deepika Padukone was being considered before Jacqueline was chosen, we did not know why.
When compared to Deepika, Jacqueline is relatively new in the industry and has lesser appeal. It is obvious that Salman influenced the choice for his heroine. Rumour has it that, Salman decided to cast Jacqueline because he was not comfortable with the fact that Deepika Padukone was growing closer to Shahrukh Khan. While Deepika seemed interested in working with Salman, he clearly didn’t want to work with someone who’s a better friend to Shahrukh than him!
The former Sri Lankan beauty queen, Jacqueline Fernandez came in the spotlight after three of her films were commercially very successful - Housefull 2, Murder 2, and Race 2. She seems very excited about the role opposite Salman Khan. Speaking about it, at an event, Jacqueline said, “It is like a dream come true for me. Salman is the biggest thing in Bollywood. I feel lucky,“ When asked about the film, she said, “It is too early to talk about the film. It would be better if Sajid Nadiadwala reveals other details,” The film would hit the screens sometime in August next year.
Deepika had started her career with Om Shanti Om, opposite Shahrukh Khan and the two have been good friends since then. Come August and the two will be seen together again, in Chennai Express. Could it be Salman’s dislike of SRK that cost Deepika a lead role opposite Sallu bhai?
