Monday Bollywood Box office report – May 27

This week box office saw three movies – Ishkq In Paris, Hum Hai Raahi Car Ke and Zindagi 50-50. None of these movies were backed by leading production house and as expected did not have a great opening at the box office.

Let’s start with Preity Zinta’s comeback movie, Ishkq In Paris. The movie marked the debut of newbie Rhehan Malliek. The hero didn’t quite live up to any of our expectations and the movie had a disastrous start. Only about 5 to 10 percent of the multiplexes in the country screened the movie. The movie made 40 lakhs on it’s first day at the box office. The movie is produced by Preity and Neelu Zinta.

The next movie was Hum Hai Raahi Car Ke starring Sanjay Dutt, Anupam Kher, Juhi Chawla, Dev Goel and Adah Sharma in the lead roles. The movie had a lot of bad publicity going on due to the whole Sanjay Dutt controversy. Sanjay Dutt fans expected a whole Dhamaal effect but were disappointed. The movie made 20 lakhs on its first day.

The last movie was Zindagi 50-50 starring infamous Veena Malik and Riya Sen. It was a complete B grade movie with loads of sleaze. It managed to do a business of 10 lakhs on the first day.

Though last week was a bit dry, we are sure that this week’s release, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone will create magic and probably enter the 100 crore club!
