Film : I Don’t Luv U
Bollywood Celebden Rating: 2/5
Cast : Chetna Pande, Ruslaan Mumtaz, Murli Sharma, Ravi Khemu and Ragesh Asthana
Direction : Amit Kasari
Yuvaan (Ruslaan Mumtaz) is a typical college-going teenager who hangs around with the stereotyped Bollywood’s college friends – an innocent friend, a studious friend and a casanova. The film has been set in a college in Delhi where, these youngsters go around scanning every girl head to toe.
This goes on until Yuvaan falls for the Aayra (Chetna Pande) , the new NRI girl in college. The two become romantically involved and just when things looked set, an MMS clip of their intimate moments is leaked on the internet. Here we have Aayra trying to come to terms with what has happened to her and there, the media frenzy and Yuvaan trying to prove himself.
Technical Aspect :
The film takes too long to portray the typical college-goers and yet, fails to live up to the expectations. The characters make desperate attempts to appeal to the urban youth by using slangs and one-liners that you used to hear long ago. In the second half of the film, the viewers are force-fed the sensationalism of electronic press while the shocked and surprised female is given too less attention.
Yuvaan and Aayra’s pair looked good on the screen but, Aayra’s emotional quotient didn’t match up with that of Yuvaan. Yuvaan did a fairly nice job, given such direction and script. The college-goers could have been portrayed better, certainly. Given the shoddy screenplay and editing, the cast made the bad job decent.
The whole film can be summarized in 5 words – teens, romance, scandal, betrayal and reunion. The MMS clip of Yuvaan and Aayra becomes everybody’s headache and the filmmaker seems confused as to whose headache he should focus on. The end is particularly chaotic and makes you realize that you’ve wasted your time and money over an overused script, with stereotyped characters. Watch it if you’ve nothing else to do!
