There have been drastic surprises and shocks when it comes to the sequel. As there were news that Akshay Kumar will not be a part of the second film and now it has been confirmed that Katrina Kaif has also been left out. The director has been adamant on replacing Katrina with the glamorous Sunny Leone.
Reports also suggest that Mallika Sherawat will also not feature in the sequel, ‘Welcome Back’.
According to a source, “Katrina was married to Akshay in Welcome and as he’s not in the sequel so we cannot cast her either. As for Mallika, she is no longer as hot as she used to be, so Anees is keen to replace her with Sunny Leone. As for Katrina’s role, while many actresses are being considered, Nargis Fakri is most likely to land the part opposite John, who has stepped in place of Akki.”
Producer Firoz Nadiadwala hasn’t decided upon the movie’s leading lady. He says, “We are in talks with different actresses and will sign them according to their availability of dates.”
Although, he confirmed that Katrina and Mallika will not be part of the new film, “Yes, Katrina and Mallika won’t be a part of Welcome 2. The story in the sequel is not an extension of Welcome but completely different from the original. The characters in Welcome Back are absolutely different from the original,” he said.
Meanwhile, after getting replaced by John Abraham in the sequel, Akshay Kumar is ‘happiest’ for him.
”Akshay is like my elder brother. Whatever I do, I always have a lot of discussions, especially with him. Akshay is happiest for me when I told him that I am doing `Welcome Back`. He said it`s a very good film and you should do it,” the 40-year-old said here Tuesday on the sets of TV show ‘Bade Acche Lagte Hain’ where he was promoting his film ‘Shootout at Wadala.’
“It`s an outstanding script, kids will love it and I am looking forward to doing it,” he added.
John has reportedly charged Rs.15 crore for ‘Welcome Back’, but did not confirm the news.
“As far as money is concerned, I don`t talk about money at all as I think it`s not as important. I charge because I think I deserve it. But I give it to charity because I think that`s more important,” John said.
