Its has been 3 and a half months in 2013 so far, but Bollywood did convincingly well compared to the last year. Nonetheless there are some movies that managed to make some money.

Race 2

Race 2 hit the screens with huge hype behind it due to its prequel’s splendid success. It received mixed responses from critics and fans where lot of them did not felt it as good as the 1st installment, but nonetheless Race-2 opened with mammoth collections and grossed 105 crores including international market and was declared a super-hit.


Special 26
Special-26 was released with minimal expectations after Akshay Kumar faced debacle in the form of “Joker”. The movie was directed by neeraj Pandey who delivered an off beat movie like “A Wednesday” in the past. Even the promos of the movie suggested that movie is not a routine ‘masala’ flick and as a result Special 26 opened with normal collections, but it picked up after good reviews and mouth of word. It then went on to gross over 70 crores and became a super-hit.

ABCD was pleasant surprise in the B-town, it broke the stereotype of dance concentric movies not working in Bollywood and became an instant hit. It opened to relatively less crowds, but then it picked up later after excellent response from the audience, critics and grossed 45 crores. Considering its low budget in the making the movie can be termed as Blockbuster.

Starring Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma and Pankaj Kapoor in the lead roles, directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, MKBKM was an experimental fare for Vishal Bharadwaj who normally directs intense emotional dramas. But however movie opened with good collections after its good music, exciting promos and then it received decent response from the crowd and went on to collect 39 crores becoming a super-hit.

Kai Po Che

Kai Po che was a movie based on Chetan Bhagat’s famous novel “Three Mistakes of My Life”. The initial promos of the movie were very appealing and upon the release it was praised by lot of critics and celebrities which gave Kai Po che very good start.
