Ek Thi Daayan is based on a daayan or may be more than one. The first thriller-horror to have received a U/A certificate from the Censors, stars Emraan Hashmi as Magician Bobo, Konkona Sen Sharma as Lisa Dutt (1960), Kalki Koechlin as Lisa Dutt (2013) and Huma Qureshi as Tamara.
Bobo is India’s renowned magician, who suffers from constant hallucinations, leaving him with no option but to seek psychiatric help. His girlfriend Tamara is not aware of his consistent hallucinations. Bobo’s past life is deciphered through regression hypnosis. His horrid past surfaces a daayan, who destroyed his family and swore to return into his life to haunt him.
Ignoring the fact, Bobo continues with his life, till Lisa Dutt enters. Bobo is convinced that Lisa is the daayan. While Konkona Sen plays the Lisa Dutt of 1960, Kalki Koechlin is the Lisa Dutt of 2013.
