Aishwarya Rai heads to Cannes on special invite

The Bachchan bahu, Aishwarya Rai has received a special invite to the Cannes Film Festival, 2013, which is all set to begin on May 15. The invitation came to the actress from the French government.

Just recently, Aishwarya Rai was bestowed with the second highest French civilian award by the French government for her contribution to Indian cinema, on the occasion of her birthday last year.

The first day of the Film Fest will feature Baz Luhrmann’s film The Great Gatsby, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, and Amitabh Bachchan. It will close with the movie Zulu, a crime thriller starring Orlando Bloom and Forest Whitaker.

Mr. Bachchan, who will be seen in a cameo in The Great Gatsby, will be flying to Cannes for the opening screening.

Cannes Film Festival will celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema this year. Superstar Rajnikanth will unveil the trailer of his upcoming film Kochadaiyaan at fest. It is heard that the South superstar has been advised not to travel for long hours. Despite the warning, Rajnikanth is keen on visiting the festival.

The Cannes Film Festival will start on May 15 and end on 26 May.
