Ajay Devgn is known as one of the most versatile actors of Indian Cinema who acted in every possible genre and delivered blockbusters. He is one of the few Indian actors who won 2 National Film Awards as the best actor. Today Ajay Devgn is celebrating his 44th birthday and as an honor Bollywood Celebden brings you the filmography of this great actor.
Ajay Devgn who is son of director and stunt master Veeru Devgn made his Bollywood debut in1991 through the movie “Phool Aur Khaante” which was directed by Kuku Kohli. The movie turned out to be a blockbuster and marked the grand entry of Anjay Devgn as a new action hero of Bollywood, especially his entry in the movie where he stands on two moving bikes was highlight at that time and also his 2nd movie “Jigar” became a super-hit and marked his potential as a future super-star.
After the success of “Phool Aur Khante” and “Jigar”Ajay Devgn was flooded with offers from top most directors and as a result he got carried away and chose some poor movies that bombed at box-office which include “Dil Hau Betaab”, “Divya Shakti”, “Platform” all of them released in 1993 which was his most disastrous year in Bollywood.
Despite of series of flops Ajay Devgn’s performances in most of the movies were appreciated by the critics especially in “Platform” and “Divya Shakti”. 1994 was the year which brought Ajay back to the form again where he delivered blockbusters like “Dilwale”, “Suhaag”,”Vijaypath”. Ajay Devgn after 1994 he was the Hero to go for the directors to make action films as a result he acted in series of action films like “Naajayaz”, “Gundaraj”, “Hulchul”,”Haqeeqat” in 1995 all of them performed decently but Ajay Devgn started to drown in the action genre but appreciable aspect is that he tried to play diverse characters.
Ajay Devgn who perfectly established himself as the angry action hero of Bollywood in mid 90’s had then chose a movie in comedy genre which was none other than the blockbuster “Ishq” where he acted along with Aamir Khan. Ajay surprised everyone with his performance which was completely different from what he did since his debut. He then acted in the movies of Romance/Comedy genre like “Pyaar Toh Hona hi Thaa” , “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” which were the blockbusters and Ajay proved that he can be a romantic hero also.
This was the time when Ajay Devgn started to experiment and do some off-beat movies as result he acted in Mahesh Bhatt’s “Zakhm” which was higly praised by critics and Ajay Devgn’s performance was considered one Bollywood’s all-time best. In spite of he appearing on the screen for considerably less amount of time his sensational performance won him his 1st National Film Award as the Best Actor. He then acted in lot of tentative movies like Dil Kya Kare, Gair, Thakshak which did not to that well at box office but Ajay Devgn was hugely appreciated for his remarkable performances.
In 2000’s Ajay Devgn was already in Bollywood’s elite league and acted in number of movies but none of the could make any impact apart from Ram Gopal Varma’s “Company” in 2001. In 2002 he won his second National Film Award for his outstanding performance in the biopic “ The Legend Of Bhagat Singh” and proved that he is one of the Bollywood’s finest actors ever. Ajay then acted in lot of movies in different genres and enjoyed moderate success in mid and late 2000’s.
After series of mediocre movies he then acted in an out and out comedy movie Golmaal which has two sequels, Golmaal 3 grossed over 100 crores and got him into the 100 crore club of Bollywood and he then gave break to his off-beat movies and replenished his early 90’s career by acting in action and ‘masala’ movies like “Singham”, “Bol bachchan”, “Son of Sardar” where all of them entered the 100 crore club making him compete with Khans yet again. Ajay’s latest venture Himmatwala opened below the expectations but these fluctuations are not at all new to him as he faced them all throughout his career and he is all set to bounce back very soon for sure as he has lot of exciting projects coming up.
On the occasion of Ajay Devgn’s 44th birthday Bollywood Celebden pays homage to this wonderful actor and hopes he delivers many more blockbusters in the future and wins numerous awards.
