Saif Ali Khan has been charged by the Mumbai police for allegedly assaulting and breaking the nose of a South African businessman at a luxury hotel earlier this year.

“Mumbai’s Colaba police station filed a chargesheet against Khan in a metropolitan magistrate court Thursday,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shishwe told reporters here Friday.

“The chargesheet has been filed with regard to a complaint registered against him for assaulting an NRI businessman Feb 22,” he added.

Saif’s friends Bilal Amrohi and actress Amrita Arora’s husband Shakeel Ladak have also been named in the chargesheet under section 325 of the Indian Penal Code for assault, Press Trust of India reported.

The incident occurred when Saif, Kareena Kapoor and some others were at the Wasabi Restaurant at the Taj Mahal Hotel.

Saif Ali Khan has been booked for assault.
