Deepika Padukone is all set to take filmmaker Imtiaz Ali out to dinner. Well, this dinner date is a treat from Deepy to Imtiza on the success of her last flick Cocktail. And a big foodie that Imtiaz is, Deepika’s this gesture couldn’t make the filmmaker anymore happy.

According to sources, the actual reason behind the dinner treat is that, Deepika is grateful to Imtiaz for suggesting her the role of the sexy Veronica over the docile Meera. Veronica’s role seemed more challenging and won her accolades from critics and fans.

Deepika says, “I knew that the film would be liked, but didn’t think that my character would be loved so much. I owe it to Imtiaz, as it was he who coaxed me to choose Veronica when I had the choice of both the characters. Had it not been for Imtiaz I would have chosen to play Meera.”

Deepy’s bikini act in the film also won her extra brownie points.

And now, as an act of gratitude, Deepika has decided to take the filmmaker out to dinner. Says a source, “They share a special bond, ever since they worked together on Love Aaj Kal. Deepika always looks for career advice from him and has great respect for him. Now Deepika is really keen to take him for dinner, but both of them are very busy with their respective projects at present. So the wait is on for both.”
