The 50th Miss World pageant, was held on 30 November 2000, and Priyanka Chopra was crowned the Miss world. It is said that the 50th pageant had the had 95 contestants, the highest number of Miss World participants ever. Priyanka won the title at a tender age of 18 years. She was the youngest among all the 95 contestants. Her final question was:

Priyanka answered: Disregarding the reference to a “living” woman, Priyanka said “There are a lot of people I admire, but one of the most admirable people is Mother Teresa, who has been so compassionate, considerate and kind.”
Lara Dutta Miss Universe 2000
Miss Universe 2000, the 49th Miss Universe pageant was held on May 12, 2000. Lara Dutta was crowned as the Miss Universe 2000. She was aged 22 years back then. She answered very beautifully, the final question, thus impressing the judges and entire audience. She said, “Beauty pageants are a platform for women to voice their opinions and help them enter the field they wanted to enter, be it entrepreneurship, the armed forces, politics, and so forth. She also said beauty pageants made women the strong, independent individuals they are today because of all the help they give women.” She achieved the highest score in the swimsuit competition and her finalist interview score was the highest individual score in any category in the history of the Miss Universe contest. Majority of the judges gave her the maximum 9.99 mark.
