Bollywood movies based on books!

1. Aisha

Aisha was a carbon copy of Jane Austen’s novel Emma. The film was produced by Anil Kapoor and starred his daughter Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol in the lead roles. However, the movie wasn’t as good as the book and bombed at the box office.

2. 3 Idiots

3 Idiots was based on Chetan Bhagat’s best selling novel Five Point Someone. Like the book, the movie also became the biggest blockbuster of all time in Indian cinema. The movie had Amir Khan, R.Madhvan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor in the main lead.

3. Hello

This Salman Khan Starer was also an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel, One Night At A Call Center. Unlike 3 Idiots, Hello was a very boring film and failed miserably at the box office.

4. Devdas

Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Devdas is an adaptation of a Bengali novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The film was a blockbuster and had Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit playing the lead roles.

5. The Mistress Of Spices

The mistress of Spices was based on the book The Mistress Of Spices by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. Aishwarya played the role of a spice queen in the film.
