Shirish Kunder won’t direct Salman Khan in Kick. Is the failure of Joker the reason for his sacking? Kunder himself revealed the news on Twitter a day after the pathetic response he got for his film ‘Joker’. He wrote, “Sajid Nadiadwala will be directing KICK. He had originally envisioned the project and I feel he is the best person to bring it to life.”
Kunder who couldn’t control his excitement of directing Salman Khan in ‘Kick’, apparently opted out of the film because he wants to concentrate on making original films. “I’ll continue with my efforts to make original films and bring novel stories in a mainstream format. Remakes for now do not interest me,” he tweeted.
Why did he say yes to directing ‘Kick’ in the first place then? The news around the industry is that Kunder was booted out of the film because of the failure of ‘Joker’ which fared terribly at the box office.
Even though, Kunder insists on carrying on with making films that have a new concept.“It is easy for me to do what everyone else is doing or what is working. But I’ll always choose to attempt something new with every film,” he further added.
Kunder should realize that if he’s making a film based on a new concept, it should also be good, not something like Joker which couldn’t even entertain the kids.
