Has Aamir Spotted Something That Salman Hasn’t?

It is a well known fact that when it comes to choosing the right script-no one in the industry can beat Aamir Khan. His track record is enough to justify this statement.

So, recently film maker Reema Katgi, the director of Honeymoon travels Pvt. Ltd. approached Salman with a script about paranormal activities. Salman felt that the story was way too complex and showed the least bit of interest in the idea and declined the script.

Guess what! Reema took the same script to Aamir who was quick to say a yes to the thriller. Looks like Salman was unable to spot something that Aamir very easily could. Just goes to show the difference between their success rates.

This untitled project is being produced by Farhan Akhtar who also produced Reema’s first film with his friend Ritesh Sidhwani.

What if Ranveer Had Not Answered the Phone?

Opportunity sooner or later comes to all who work and wish. Say, that opportunity comes in the form of a phone call that you don’t pick up for ten long days. Well, I guess it’ll still beckon the worthy.

This is what exactly happened with Ranveer Singh- Band Baajaa Baaraat fame. Ranveer ignored the calls from Shanu Sharma, the casting director of Yash Raj Films for ten long days before he finally answered it and got to know that he was screening for Bittu in the presence of Aditya Chopra the next day.

Do you know why Ranveer didn’t answer his phone in the first place? The first time he received the call, he was out dating after which he was kept busy with his imaginations.

Lucky you, Ranveer! You didn’t let your imaginations get the better of you.

Asia’s Sexiest Man

Do you know who it is? Is it John Abraham, Hrithik Roshan, Jay Sean, Salman Khan?

Well, who would you choose or is it someone not on the list of names I mentioned? Well, all the guys and gals-fans of RK, I mean Ranbir can go for a toast. Ranbir Kapoor has been voted Sexiest Asian Man.

If you are wondering where and when this award was bestowed on him, the details are as follows.

Eastern Eye, a London based weekly conducted a survey to find who the sexiest Asian guy was and guess what RK has surpassed both John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan as per the survery.

While John finished second, Hrithik took the third spot, the R&B star Jay Sean came fourth and Ali Zafar, the Pakistani singer occupied the fifth spot. I wonder what’s happened to Salman in the poll.

Anyway, one thing is for sure, Ranbir has occupied a lot of hearts though, Deepika definitely is not one among them.

Would SRK’s Ra.One be able to achieve what Rajni’s Robot did?

Director Shankar apparently approached SRK in mid 2007 with the project Robot. SRK was keenly looking forward to working with this genius film maker from the South and he even agreed to produce the mega budget movie under his own banner Red Chillies Entertainment.

But, something did not work out between the actor and director and Shankar came back to Chennai only to rope in the Superstar of Tamil cinema while SRK got busy with My Name is Khan and started his own sci-fi Ra.One with Anubhav Sinha.

Well, the rest is history! Robot broke all the existing BO records in Indian cinema overtaking Dabanng and 3 Idiots.

After, the astounding success that Robot achieved, SRK immediately conducted a brainstorming session with his creative team in order to shoot a particular train sequence that was more or less similar to the one in Robot.

Rumour has it that despite the scene alone costing a whopping 3 crores, SRK was prepared to re-shoot it in order to avoid any similarities between the two flicks.

King Khan is leaving no stone unturned to make Ra.One a success. He is planning an interactive gaming for kids during the movie’s screening. He has even roped in the international music composers Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight and Inception fame) to do the background score and Akon for a special song.

The movie is going to hit the theatres in November 2011 and hope it makes his superhero dream come true.

Dabanng’s Winning Combo Could Remain Unchanged?

Abhinav Singh Kashyap who delivered this year’s biggest hit of Bollywood Dabanng could be back to wield the megaphone for the sequel as well. For the past few weeks rumours were adrift that that the Khan brothers were not too happy with the price that Abhinav was quoting to direct Dabanng-2.

There were also rumours going around that either Sohail or Arbaaz would pick up the responsibility of showcasing Chulbul Pandey. But, now Arbaaz has cleared the air and has confirmed that the winning combo would remain unaltered for now.

Well, I don’t think the audiences would mind any change in the film as long as Chulbul “Robinhood” Pandey continues to entertain.

TV ka Superstar is also Big B

The phenomenon that revitalised Amitabh Bachchan’s silver screen career a decade ago has once again received unprecedented viewing audience.

This time, the format of KBC (IV) was shortened with the first question starting at 5,000 Rs and a sense of urgency crept into the players with the introduction of Ghadial Babu. Big B was at his charismatic best once again and we could get to see all his KBC one liners hitting the right note with the audience.

Apparently, KBC has revived Sony’s TRPs magnificently and even the new age action heroes Salman and Akshay had to take a back seat on TV when compared to Mr.Bachchan.

Hope Big B comes back with the season V and makes all the audiences say once again, 9 baj gaye kya!

Saifeena Upset with Toonpur Devgan

Word has it that the Saifeena duo are upset about Ajay Devgan’s upcoming film Toonpur ka Superhero. In the film, Ajay plays a filmi hero who is trying to become a real hero in the eyes of his son. A particular episode in the film also depicts a scene from Omkara (which Ajay, Saif and Kareena were part of).

In this particular episode, where animated Saif and Kareena are also shown -Saif is actually sporting a tattoo bearing Kareena’s name on his left forearm. Although, during the shooting of Omkara, Kareena was still dating Shahid.

It seems it was Ajay’s idea to include this scene in the film just to add to the humour (as if the existing toons weren’t enough!)

This ill humourous Ajay’s idea is not sitting well with the duo, although they want to wait until the film unravels.

Kuch idhar-udhar hua, toh Kareena Golmaal-4 mein kaam nahin karegi shayad. Careful Ajay!

What Went Wrong for Aishwarya?

Well, nothing went right for her in 2010, as far as Bollywood was concerned (barring the mega success of Endhiran- The Robot, which of course was in Tamil).

Four big films-

  • Raavan
  • Robot
  • Action Replayy
  • Guzaarish

Unfortunately, the above four films (barring Robot) bombed at the BO despite being pitched as the best crowd pullers of the year prior to the release. Robot managed to pick crowds (not for long though) through word of mouth, but the rest of the movies did not even have decent openings.

  • Despite all the hardships of shooting in a forest, with no proper food for four days and various other troubles, Raavan fared miserably at the BO.
  • The same was the fate of Action Replayy, which when compared to recent Akshay Kumar’s films had a minimal opening and lost the race to Golmaal 3.
  • Guzaarish incurred a loss of 40 crore rupees leaving the producers almost bankrupt.

Only respite for her was Endhiran, which becme the highest grossing film ever in Indian Cinema. But it was the director, Shankar and its main lead, Rajnikanth who walked away with all the accolades.

Also rumours about her being pregnant, would not bring any joy to the film makers.

Despite all this, Aishwarya is still a renowned figure in the West and her association with the Cannes Jury and other international endeavours like Longiness and L’oreal just prove that even at the age of 36, her achievements are yet to be reached by any other Indian actress.

After all, being an international figure, playing lead roles in huge projects, managing her family life and being the Bacchan Bahu have surely taken a toll of her. It would be going way too ahead, if we are writing her off. This blue-eyed damsel is still the best beauty and brains that Bollywood has ever produced.
