Madhuri Sizzles On KBC…

KBC is battling Bigg Boss 4 for TV ratings. After Bigg Boss got Pamela Anderson, their ratings shot up. To combat this development, KBC recently got Madhuri Dixit on the show. The audience went gaga over Madhuri’s beauty and voted her smile as her best asset.

Madhuri was at ease sitting opposite Amitabh Bachchan with whom she has worked in the David Dhawan comedy Chote Miyan Bade Miyan. Quite charmingly, Madhuri turned the tables around and asked the audience to vote on Big B’s best quality. The audiences voted for the superstar’s acting.

Imran Khan connects his character in “Break Ke Baad” to his real life..

Imran Khan initially wasn’t sure about dating girlfriend Avantika. Here is what he has to say about his relationship, connecting it to his latest flick, ‘Break Ke Baad’.

Imran was asked, like most of his friends, has he ever taken a break in a relationship?

I personally don’t believe in the concept of a break. I believe either you are in a relationship or you’re not. There is nothing like a break. If the relationship is not working out then one should opt out of the relationship. It’s like making a reservation for a table in the restaurant and not occupying it as well without letting it go. So it’s something I don’t understand.

How does he connect his character in “Break Ke Baad” to his real life?

I play a character very similar to myself in real life. Not many get a chance to do that. Abhay Gulati is someone who has been in a long-term relationship just like me, and doesn’t believe in the concept of taking a break in a relationship. When I started off with Avanatika I was not sure what I wanted to do but I just fell in love with her and that’s how Abhay Gulati is, who is clueless about his career and wants to get married to Aaliya (Deepika).

How is “Break Ke Baad” any ‘different’ from the other ‘different’ love stories released in recent times?

Break Ke Baad is a film which I feel the audience will be able to connect to. A film that today’s youngsters can easily relate too because somewhere it’s been happening with them around. Love stories are about boy meets girl and falls in love but Break Ke Baad shows what takes place in a relationship and how one deals with it.

Since you have been in a long-term relationship, have either of you ever felt the need for a break? What are the alternatives to taking a break in a relationship?

Every relationship goes through some ups and downs and not necessarily all land up in breakups. In my relationship neither I nor Avantika ever believed in the concept of a break. Whatever issues came up, we solved them between the two of us and that’s the reason why I’m now getting married to her. We have been together over eight and a half years now.

Box Office reports…

Deepika Padukone-Imran Khan’s rom-com Break Ke Baad failed to live up to the box office expectations. However, the film produced by Kunal Kohli in association with Reliance Big Pictures and directed by debutant director Danish Aslam, seems to be on safe grounds mainly thanks to its correct economics.

The movie did not have a very great start and couldn’t pick up over the weekend too. It has collected Rs 10.50 crore approx from its first weekend.

The film did business of Rs 3 crore approx on Friday and collected Rs 3.75 crore approx on Saturday. The Sunday collections couldn’t get better and was the same as Saturday with approx Rs 3.75 crore. Further, the movie dropped badly on Monday with business of Rs 1.50 crore approx. The movie can manage around Rs 5-5.25 crore approx over the weekdays, and its collection may go up to Rs 16 crore approx for the first week.

Though the theatrical performance of Break Ke Baad is not good, the film should manage to earn the revenue of Rs 33 crore against investment of 25 crore which is 32% return and proportionately better than the hit theatrical performers like My Name Is Khan, Housefull and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, reveals trade reports. Break Ke Baad is sold for Rs 13 crore for its satellite rights while music and home video rights added another Rs 5 crore, making it Rs 18 crore for the non-theatrical rights.

The other releases of the week Allah Ke Banday and A Beautiful Wife aka Spanish Beauty received very poor response from the audience.

Shahrukh mocked in Farah’s upcoming flick…

Farah Khan’s upcoming film Tees Maar Khan, will see a spoof of SRK. The film has a scene where Akshaye Khanna plays an intense and over-expressive actor who suffers from backache. So for his treatment, he has to fly off to London.

Doesn’t this remind you of something similar that happened in the past???

Okay! SRK has had a medical procedure done in London to get rid of his backache problem.

Not just this. In the flick, Akshaye is offered a role by Danny, who is an international filmmaker. Akshaye refuses the role after making him wait for hours The role is then grabbed by Anil Kapoor who wins an Oscar for his performance, leaving Akshaye gnashing his teeth with regret.

Just to remind you, British director Danny Boyle had first approached SRK to play the quizmaster in his multiple-Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire, but SRK turned it down and the role went to Anil Kapoor who won international acclaim through the film.

Noz these similarities can’t be co-incidence. It clearly points out towards SRK who is the butt of joke in Farah’s new film Tees Maar Khan.

TMK releases on December 24.
