FashionQuo: Vidya Balan – Fab or Drab?

Vidya Balan has been on the fashion police hit list for years now.  Vidya is mostly seen in anarkalis and churidars – probably because she is slightly on the heavier side. But we leave it to you – what do you think?  What is Vidya’s  Fashion Quotient? Fab or Drab? Is her sense of style as messed up as fashion critics think? Give us your views –

  2. This is the first time I ever read an article about Vidya. Never did I know she was conservative at styles. I’m SO surprised that an EXTREMELY TALENTED ACTRESSES like her that dress casually still exist. I’m SO impressed for her acting skills but no nothing about her fashion sense. Yet I glad and truly respect her personality and way of life. I’m very much GLAD that an actresses like her still exist. Not only she is VERY talented in acting but she is very natural too. All the best dear.

  3. she looks beautiful, but sometimes the outfits are a lil bit tacky, she shud get some more stylish anarkalis. they suit her nyway. :)

  4. Vidya is a beautiful woman and should stick to wearing Indian clothes that she looks best in. My only complaint is the colors are sometimes garish (see the yellow colorful outfit) or too much fabric which overhelms her.

She just needs to select better Indian outfits.

  5. I agree with barsa!i keep insisting on this point but it seems to go un noticed by many people who write their negative comments, including the person responsible for writing this blog, who has blatantly stated that many celebs look ‘ugly’ or ‘fat.’ Stop with all this jealousy and back biting!

  6. I don’t think she is on the heavy side. It is a great shame when women over size 8-10 are thought to be heavy, surely it is the person that matters. No wonder we have so many girls who are on constant diets and making themselves sick to copy the actresses.

As an indian overseas, I think more actresses should wear asian clothes as they show more charachter than the bikini clad that is the new “in” at the moment. It is a shame when actresses have to wear less to be accepted, and Bollywood should be promoting our culture and immense asian fashion and design.

  7. The style suits her and she definitely plays safe. However, her clothes are a little on the ‘drab’ side i.e. colourless and a bit boring. She could do with a little more colour injection and may be try a modern twist on her clothing i.e. different fabrics or some fusion clothing. Before all the narrow minded people start having a go, I do not mean she has to wear western clothes or shed clothes.

  8. I’m sorry to say this but i think she looks terrible everytime. She never looks good or sexy. She looks like a married woman who has 4 children.

  9. wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
who said she is on the heavier side???
from which angle does she look fat to u????
i think she’s probably one of the few actresses who are actually healthy
wat is wrong with u media ppl?????
when someone is too skinny, u criticis tht, which is understandable,
but when someone is perfectly nice and healthy, u say tht they are fat
no wonder those actresses go on a diet and become really skinny and then u criticise them like
u guys should be ashamed of urselves!!!

  10. Ppl jus fuss over nothin… i knw it gets a lil monotonous with the same style ovr n over again… But Vidya looks good… May be she shud try Sabyasachi’s designs… she can carry them well.

  11. she looks great actually can act and wears clothes. She represents a classy
indian girl with nice dressing – not showing half her body naked. Good for you Vidya for sticking for your guns. you are awesome!

  12. style is a statement not limited by outfits specifically by western outfits, she carries herself very well with what she wears and moreover most of Indian females wears that way so how can she be labeled as Drab.

  13. She looks absolutely fabulous! And much much much more better dressed than Katrina, Priyanka, or Bebo. Does anybody actually truly admire Katrina, Priyanka, or Kareena. They all look like a bunch of tramps and sluts, she looks beautiful. And she is not heavy. Please. She is beautiful. She looked stupid in Kismat Konnection when she wore western clothes, she is not thin but healthy. I love her!

  14. Vidya is very beautiful in Indian clothes! I do not think she is heavy, but sometimes the colors she picks are not becoming like the white sari with the black top.

  15. She has got a much better figure and dress sense than kajol. Kajol havn’t a good figure neither has got any style still she is number 1 and eye catching and everyone appreciate her wuteva she wears cuz she is a good actress and thts all matters. Why i’m comparing her with kajol…my point is Vidya has got a similar shape like kajol but i wud rather say she looks much betta than kajol in terms of figure, hair style n dress sense. So dont make it a issue as long she is a good actress that’s all matter to us.

  16. She looks comfortable in what she wears. She is not trying hard to look trendy like the other actresses. Trendy=Trying too hard. She looks “real”. And it suites her!!!

  17. I have to agree with #2. She is very conservative and it suites her. I don’t want her to start taking her clothes off like Rani (even if I love Rani I still don’t like the way she has been dressing up lately). I like Vidya the way she is.

  18. why she has been on the fashion police hit list, becuz she wears indian clothes?
she is proud of her country unlike manyy others, why wud that be a bad thing.
    i love her style!!!!!

  19. only cuz she isnt ur typical manish malhotra dressed actress dsnt mean she aint got style, she looks gud in all these pics. and anarkali looks good on her so shes wearing it. shes not heavy, shes just curvy!! the way evry gal shud be. not to be lyk kareena and show girls internationally that throwing up after evry meal is the way to be. carry on vidya. u luk fab. x
